About Matt Kauffman & Our Scholarship

Matt was a young man with great creative vision. Although quiet, Matt was a loyal friend, and rarely turned anyone down who asked for help. He often rescued his grade school principal and teachers when they needed computer help. He worked as a summer janitor’s assistant as well. He also had a compassion towards individuals with disabilities.

Matthew Kauffman died during his sophomore year at Ohio State University. To honor his memory, his family and friends would like to offer a scholarship in his name to a graduating senior from any school in the area who is considering going into the field of Special Education.

The specific criteria for the scholarship:

-Must be a graduating senior from an area high school

-Complete a scholarship application form (separate from this application)

-Submit a one page typed letter describing your interest in the field of Special Education.

-Submit at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher or other professional on your behalf.

Contact Frank Lancianese at to request a scholarship Application.

Deadline for consideration is July 27, 2018
